THE SAMA METHOD
Ancient wisdom, translated for modern life.
The Sama Method is the therapeutic framework that underpins The Sama Journey.
It weaves together the wisdom of Yoga, Ayurveda and contemplative practice with contemporary understandings of the body and nervous system — creating a personalised approach to meaningful, sustainable change.
Its purpose is simple.
To remember SAMA.
The Sama Method
The Sama Method draws on the chakra system as an ancient map of human experience.
Through the Journey, we explore seven therapeutic qualities:
Support • Release • Capacity • Alignment • Integrity • Inner Wisdom • Wholeness
We begin by creating a steady foundation through Support, before exploring Release and building Capacity. From there, we move towards Alignment, Integrity, Inner Wisdom and Wholeness.
There is a progression, but it isn't a ladder.
Life continually changes. At different times we may need to return to support, let something go, build capacity, reconnect with what matters, find greater clarity or take aligned action.
Over time, these seven qualities become a map you can return to — helping you recognise what you need and how you might respond.
The Journey
The journey unfolds through seven timeless qualities.
Support • Release • Capacity • Alignment • Integrity • Inner Wisdom • Wholeness
Rather than asking:
“What's wrong?”
The Sama Method gently asks:
“What quality might support me now?”

The Body Leads the Way
The chakra system gives us a therapeutic map, but the practice remains embodied.
The Sama Method also works with the five Vayus — different expressions of the movement of prana that help guide how a practice is organised.
At different times, we may need to ground and settle, build strength and containment, encourage movement and circulation, or create greater space and uplift.
Rather than simply choosing poses associated with a chakra, the physical practice is designed around the therapeutic intention and what your body and nervous system need.
Organise first, then move.
Returning to Your Centre
The Heart sits at the centre of the chakra system, bridging our foundations with our capacity for expression, insight and connection.
Having cultivated Support, Release and Capacity, we begin asking different questions:
What matters to me?
What brings me back towards myself?
From here, we explore qualities such as compassion, curiosity, courage, clarity, confidence, connection and joy.
The Heart isn't about becoming more positive or denying what is difficult.
It is about creating enough space to hold more than one truth — and returning to what matters from there.
Sense • Organise • Adapt
This is one of the simplest ways to understand the embodied process.
SENSE
Notice what is happening — in the body, breath, nervous system and your experience.
ORGANISE
Create the support, stability or conditions that allow the body to respond.
ADAPT
Explore movement, challenge, rest or change — and notice what happens.
Then we sense again.
The practice becomes a conversation with the body rather than something imposed upon it.
How The Sama Method Works
Practice • Rhythm • Reflection • Integration
Practice
Experience it.
The journey begins through embodied therapeutic practice.
Drawing from therapeutic yoga, restorative and yin traditions, breath, mudra, bandha and somatic awareness, every practice is thoughtfully tailored to your body, your health and your stage of life.
Rather than simply exercising the body, these practices cultivate steadiness, awareness and a different way of relating to yourself.
Balance is first experienced in the body.
Rhythm
Live it.
Transformation becomes sustainable when it is woven into everyday life.
Inspired by Ayurveda, we'll explore nutrition, nourishment, daily rhythms, seasonal living and simple self-care practices that support your individual constitution, circumstances and needs.
This isn't about following a perfect diet or routine.
It's about discovering what supports you — and finding realistic ways to bring those choices into your life.
Harmony grows through the way we live.
Reflection
Understand it.
Lasting change begins with awareness.
Through thoughtful conversation, yoga philosophy, contemplative practice and carefully chosen reflections, we'll explore the patterns, beliefs and habits that shape your experience.
Reflection helps connect what you experience in practice with what is happening in your life.
Insight creates choice.
Choice creates freedom.
Understanding creates space for change.
Integration
Make it your own.
Real change happens between sessions.
Together, we'll explore where supportive practices can realistically fit into your morning, afternoon or evening rhythms.
Personalised home practices, guided recordings, therapeutic resources, Ayurvedic recipes and nutrition, self-care rituals, recommended props, herbs where appropriate and other carefully selected supports help translate what we explore into everyday life.
The intention isn't to give you more things you should be doing.
It's to discover what genuinely supports you and gradually make it your own.
Lasting change is cultivated through consistency rather than intensity.
Why “Sama”?
Sama is a Sanskrit word that speaks to balance, ease and equanimity.
It is the quiet harmony that can arise when we begin living in rhythm with ourselves, with nature and with life.
Yoga and Ayurveda offer ways of cultivating that relationship — not simply through movement, but through awareness, nourishment, rhythm, reflection and connection.
The Sama Method brings these traditions together in a way that is both timeless and deeply practical.
Every recommendation.
Every practice.
Every reflection.
Every conversation.
Is guided by one simple intention:
To help you remember own version of Sama.
